Ummmm, Yeah right. In fact dunno any kind of forum that runs On access. I think they're all on SQL.

These off topic posts were split from here.

I wasn't being serious about the Access thing anyhow. Just being silly.

A lot of businesses that I've helped design new systems for, were originally on Access databases. A huge problem with that, is Access has big problems when multiple users are trying to change the same record at the same time. It's a rare occurrence, but hey, it happens! Needless to say, we stepped most of these systems on up to at least use a central SQL database. Although many still want Access on the local machines, bleh.

As you can see, I'm not a big fan of Access. Just not a good choice for business use.

Hey Fox Pro used to be a great database. Its much more powerful than most know... I used to program in it years ago...

Access does have issues with multiple users, but if the forum software was programmed correctly it could protect against that. I'm not saying I'd write one for Access since phpBB is already written for mySQL, but you could write one in ASP for MS Access...

Because its part of MS Office and its easy to use. I'd rather have people use MS Access for their database than use MS Excel. :p

Huh? Comparing Access with Excel is like comparing Word with Powerpoint.

Well you could save an excel file as a DBF file and that is a database. I guess my response would be you can create a spreadsheet in Word.

Right, but that doesn't make either of them a spreadsheet... See my point? I can make a database in notepad, but you don't consider notepad a database.

No, But as long as you create one, It's a database. Wat I mean Is Doesn't Matter where you create It, Its still a datbase. Maybe It's just that some programs are easier to make dbs with than others tho. :)

OK, but that is not was we are talking about. An XLS file is not a database.
