oh man I hear ya.. yeah our public transit system is pretty decent I have to admit. the subway is great for going downtown, as well as along the east and west ends, but for anywhere north of the city (including east and west along the north end) it sucks. at my job I was taking 3 buses and 2 subways each way, which took me 1.5 hours each way. If I was working downtown I'd take the train in, but for where I work it's a pretty long commute.

Crowded buses are the worst! Even now when I sit in traffic on my way to the 401 I at least can throw some music on and drink my coffee in peace.

Yikes....i have been on the 401 in TO and i sure dont wish to be there. mind u most of the time we get caught on a friday afternoon, so its pretty bad.

the good thing about busses here is, they have their own lane on the highway, so we cruise past all the cars. but really traffic here is not all that bad. even in busiest times u can cross the city in about 45 mins.

but forget downtown. i rather walk or take the bus there, its so badly laid out.....1 way streets ALL over the place. dunno about ur downtown, never really been.

yeah downtown's got quite a few one way streets, also if you're goin south on yonge st, you'll find that you can't make rights or lefts off of it during rush hour (which makes sense cuz it keeps traffic flowing). If you're close to the subway and work/go downtown, it's easiest to take the subway (but try tellin that to my mom who takes her car downtown every day when she could get there in 15mins on the subway).

yeah the 401 is a pretty crazy highway. However, most of the traffic is flowing into the city in the morning, and out of the city in teh evening (as so many people live in the suburbs now, richmond hill, oakville etc..). for me it's ok because i head out of the city in the morning and into it in teh evening (opposite from most traffic).

I've been to ottawa once, and that was in grade 5 or 6 on a school trip, haven't seen it since! All I remember is that your traffic lights are sideways! LOL

Sideways traffic lights huh?? you might be thinking of Quebec or maybe even Hull, which is just across the river from downtown. they have the crazy sideways lights, but in ottawa we dont.

well if its been since grade 5 or 6 I think its tome to come and visit again. maybe come for the winter and skate on the canal. thats pretty fun actually. sooooo many ppl there.

I go to markham atleast once every year, sometimes more, to visit some family and my sister plays softball there a lot. and the sadest thing is.......i have never been to wonderland. someday i hope to get there...lol

man i havne't been to wonderland in a few years. i'ts fun to go once in awhile, but it's gettin expensive, and waiting over 2 hours to get on a ride sucks. It's worth goin to though so check it out.

yeah I must have been thinkin of quebec lights, crazy sideways! I've always wanted to skate on the canal. I haven't been on skates in about 13 years so it'd be fun LOL!

well come on down. in a few months the canal will be all ready to go. You can get a bever tail and hot chocolate and your all set for a great time. Bring the family, kids (if you have em??) And if you come at winterlude time, there is often free stuff all along the canal. Like soups and gum, and other fun things. There is also the ice and snow sculptures to see. Something i like to do after skating the canal is go to taco bell....hehehehe ummmmm tacos!!!!
