I haven't been around in the mobile scene for awhile but this article over at engadget has me confused. "CLEAR WiMAX goes live in Las Vegas, Samsung Mondi ships to take advantage" Looking at the screenshot of the Samsung Mondi I see a full featured PDA of the type we kind of dreamed about back in 2000. It's running WM6.1 with the full mobility package but not having phone features I would call it a PDA. Has the term PDA now become extinct?

Yes, the terminology also has me confused. Personally, I believe that a PDA is anything that has computing capabilities that fit in a hand. A smartphone, like most of the HTC devices, would be considered a PDA.

So, according to my definition, a MID would be a separate class. It does not fit in your hand...

I don't see any referance in the article refering MID or WM6.1. However given the 4.3" touch screen which is about the size of an Axim. Perhaps I just missed it. I would call it a PDA though.

Doesn't a MID have to be running Vista or XP

Don't Panic!

It's supposed to be an ARM11 CPU clocked at 800Mhz. Too bad it's not the Snapdragon chip at 1GHz.
