Ok I want to overclock my AMD Athlon 1ghz proccessor on a MS-6340. Well I thought it would be simple, but I dont have any jumpers on my MB. Is their a bootup program I can do it with? or can I do it on Bios? Ive notices some small numbers and freqs on there but thats all I saw that could be overclocking


WOOHOO! Just got back from the door the fedex guy just brought my replacement axim form compgeeks... They werent supposed to give me a new one, its not remanufactured and it has a dell support code on it!, also they werent supposed to give me any documentation and they did along with the CD. It was supposed to be just the axim sync cable and power adapter. Anyways what is pocket pc premium 2002? is it diff from pocket pc 2002?

Anyways back to the overclocking... Any help appreciated

did you do the pencil trick to connect the bridges? what company is your mobo? Check the bios setup, it could be software, like my ati kt7.

I dont think your MicroStar with this model has the capabilities for OCing well.

And I do have a question before I take my precessor out, does that thermal glue need to be reaplied before I put it back in and run it?

Yes you would need to put some type of heatsink compound. If not you are taking chances on buring up your cpu.

Arctic Silver is the best one out on the market for the OCer.

well im out I got no money at all to spare, I just spent 50 bucks on a recovery software and 110 on a new HDD cause of the blaster... is their anything else that can make my comp faster, say maybe adding more cycles to my sd-ram?

i got the same 1.0ghz processor, cheapest thing you can do to speed up is add more ram, but like anything over 384mb u wont really notice a difference. Overclocking, i did the pencil trick but it was very unstable because of my poor HSF and heating problems. I did use artic silver though.. Yea you do have to reapply, first clean the slug (core) with rubbin alhohol or acetone and reapply a thin layer of the artic silver

More quality ram as Xkalibur stated, I prefer Crucial or Mushkin, faster HD and better OS such as Win2K Professional or Linux.

Minimal apps running in the background as well should help. The power of CTRL ALT DELETE or MSCONFIG should help.

actually my computer is uped from software to hardware stats cept for proccessor, mb, and ram. HDD i just replaced its runnin much faster since mine got shot and kept zapping me

also im not the kind of person that has al kinds of crap starting up at startup, alls i got is, windows [obviously] Firewall and Antivirus, and incd to mount my backup CDRW drive

Adn i do have winxp home so i dont need to up os
