Just stating the obvious here, so sorry if you did do this...

When it comes back with the list you have to click the check box and click on remove or fix (I don't remember what the button is named). You can right click and it will give you the option to select all.

Or...are you saying you did delete all the listings then ran it again and they were all back??

Ad-Aware is good, but I use it along with Spybot to make sure nothing slips by. Make sure you look for updates before running either one. The Spybot website says it gets rid of Searchv. These are great in combo.

any luck yet?

probably what is happening is that there is a batch file or dll somewhere on you're computer that is being called on startup that is resetting your home page in the registry. there is a program out there call hijackthis, I don't have experience with it but some forums have posts from people who have had success with it.

good luck!

Try going to Start ----> Run and type "msconfig". Go to the Startup tab. Systematicly uncheck anything that looks suspicous. Reboot and try again.

Another thing to try within IE go to Tool ---> Internet Options and go to Programs tab. Click "Reset Web Settings...". Reboot and try again.

Good luck.

Aximboy:

You fix your problem yet? I found out I got 'hijacked too', my 404 not found page was replaced with 'clearsearch' or some crap like that.

You are right, Ad Aware didn't fix it. I ended up downloading HiJACKthis (google search). Looked for anything that said clearserach checked the box next to it and deleted it.

If you're still stuck give hijackthis a try...

Joe

Take a look at www.endpopups.com it's a freeware popup blocker that filters a lot of problem sites, and it works really really well

Try www.symantec.com/security response and download all the recent virus removal tools remember to shut down system Restore or it will not work Follow all the instructions TO THE LETTER!!. Then Start/msconfig/services and disable netmeeting and messenger. If this does not work try www.tweak3d.net this site should help you out and also help out your total speed of computer. You have been hijacked I would recommend that you buy Norton Anti Virus and KEEP UP TO DATE ON DEFINITIONS!!!! I have spent the last 5 months on strike from my regular job and have supported my family with helping out people with their computers. Thank God MS keeps on putting out products that are filled with security holes. Also hit Tools/Windows updates and download all of the Security Fixes there. The last one is paramount you have problems but they CAN BE FIXED.
