Brings Back Memories

The theme of this post reminds me of the text from the book 'Jurassic Park'.

In the book (NOT the movie), the scientists had found a way to genetically engineer a tiny elephant. Problem was, the little beast had a terrible temper and was hard to control. Great to show people at a distance, but don't let them get too close!

That's kinda my feeling about this type of messing around with nature. You never really understand what you'll be creating. It may appear OK, but there's all sorts of possible problems that aren't immediately noticeable.

Gotta admit, though, the Worth 1000 pics made me laugh a good bit - especially the Cheshire Frog. :D

I remember reading somewhere that some guys are working on genetically altering cats and dogs so that they do not produce any dander. this means that they will be hypoallergenic! sure it's maybe not a good idea to tamper, but it would be a great thing for peopole with pet allergies

The dander idea would be great. We have always had pets in my family. Right now we have two ferrets, one dog (8), and one cat (13, and I am his human :D). But my mother is allergic to them, and breaks out in hives, burning itchy eyes, etc. But she won't get rid of the them because she loves them, so she will just remain miserable.

gen alt pets

although a some what disturbing thread much like an auto wreck i know i should look away but can't.

many of the things that we eat are modified whether vegi or meat. even our pets through centuries of cross-breeding and in some cases inbreeding have caused a genetic change (how do you explain spoodles). as for tigers well...just another example of too much in-breeding hence the desire for tiger print garments.

before we think of shrinking elephants and enlarging sea monkeys why don't we ask the question, will this make the world a better place or how would i feel if the animals experimented on me? ala planet of the apes series.

someone is going to go too far and then we're all gonna get screwed by mother nature. oops too late!!

As Condide said "This is the best place since it is the only place"
If we genetically engineer ourselves out of existance, it is our own fault. Read Stephen Kings "The Stand" It may still happen.
