Free Office 2007 at Technet Launch event
If you have the opportunity and ability, go to the launch event and check out the cool stuff and presentations
I'm going to the event tomorrow in Tampa
You also get a number of cool pens and such... Not everyone gets to go to CES. :(

Greetings and Welcome to TechNet Flash,
The New Year finds us on the eve of the Windows Vista, the 2007 Microsoft Office system, and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 product launches, and there will be plenty of new learning opportunities for IT pros in select venues across the United States. The Ready for a New Day Launch Tour <http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=6035413> will include sessions, events, and resources for hands-on IT professionals, developers, and IT decision makers. These are free events intended to bring the business community together to engage with peers, Microsoft employees, and local technology partners. Not to mention that launch events are also a lot of fun and you'll receive a complimentary copy of Microsoft Office Professional 2007 and Microsoft Office Groove 2007. Just register <http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=6035414> to find an event in your area.

If anyone is in the Birmingham Alabama area, I am considering going to the launch even there. I have an invitation, not sure if I can bring a guest, but worth a shot eh?

OK.. just got back.
The tally of goodies received:
MS "Ready for a New Day" Launch t-shirt (shirts came in 2 sizes L and XXL, apparently they know their audience)
Matching tote bag to carry all the goodies
Notepad and folding MS Pen (pretty cheap, broke in 5 minutes of playing with it)
HP/MS led necklace with glowing LED (dumb, but my 6 year old loves it)
6' Symantec retractable network cable
Office 2007 & Groove 2007 install keys and download
Vista Evaluation DVD (probably time limited)
A cd holder that used to hold a Symantec products documentation CD
2 decent pens from other vendors
a bunch of evaulation and resource DVDs for MSO, Vista, and Exchange
Free Starbucks coffee, bagels and muffins, and a free lunch with a line so long that my buddy and I went to Hooters instead
There were Zune and Xbox giveaways, and one lucky bastard won a HP PPC (didn't catch the model)

BTW...
If you go to Microsoft Office Online you can DL all sort of trial software. They will provide you a CD/Activation key that is time limited so you can review the product
The MSO2k7 key is good for 60 days

Damn.. Now I almost wish I could go.. Although, I'd pitch the Symantec crap.. But we won't discuss my distaste for that company.. Save that for another day/thread..
Sounds like it was interesting! Any fun though?

BTW... just got around to installing(upgrading) Office 2007.
The new Outlook client is NICE and has a built in feature to read/sync RSS feeds.
No problems with ActiveSync (I'm running 4.5b2)
You have to connect, Sync, doubleclick the email icon, and select subfolders to sync the rss feeds that are configured in outlook

Yeah, I love the new Outlook. I love the way they redid the calendar, and even just the mailbox pieces.
RSS is awesome too.. I have quite a few feeds I subscribe to now. Now I just need to consider looking at an RSS utility for the 8525.. Not sure I really wanna be any more connected than I already am though..

Radimus, your list of swag didn't include Office 2007. Did you get a copy or is the OP wrong?

I think when he mentioned "Office 2007 & Groove 2007 install keys and download", that includes Office 2007. Am I wrong?

I went to the Dallas, TX one. Got to check out WM6 at the Windows Mobile booth!
You got a restractable network cable? aww...they didn't have those for us.
Vista Evaluation is 60 days.
Got a copy of Spysweeper.
Got the other goodies you mentioned + Microsoft water bottle and pocket soduko electronic game.
The lunches were really yummy - Grileld veggie sandwhich...also tried the curry chicken sandwich.
3 people won Treo 750s...check for envelopes under your seat!

At my Launch in Sacramento, CA, there were Utility CDs handed-out after the event if you turned-in a voucher that was provided in your goodie-bag.
This Utility CD also contained a mass-produced Serial Number for use with Office 2007 Pro and Groove 2007, with directions to go to a Microsoft website and download (ARGH!) the applications (MSO2K7 was 768Megs! in two parts!).
Took forever to download: a seriously busy website *trumps* my super quick DSL every time!
But, the suite is working perfectly, and I would swear that the applications load just a little bit quicker than Beta did...
