Exclamation Mini DV (ready to order, please help)

i am thinking of buying a Canon optura 20 Camcorder and I have a few Qs

1) Can you rerecord on a Mini DV Tape?(hows the quality?)
2) Do you think this is a good camera?
3) Has anyone transfered video from a mini dv camcorder to pc with firewire?(hows it work?)

Please just answer what you can and give me feedback.

You can find the canon optura 20 at almost any electronics website(best buy, amazon, Circut city, etc.)

please help me with some of my questions. Sooner the better

You can rerecord on minidv tapes. Eventually you will get some degradation. as far as firewire, on xp you just plug it in and it sees it. You still need a capture utility such as windows movie maker. A good website for help is www.vcdhelp.com . Good luck

1. mini dv is the only way to go with consumer products Record and rerecord, no sweat. I have some tapes I keep, others are "rotators" that capture the events and then go into a video project via my PC.
2. This is a good camera. I use a Canon IXY (elura 40) in the States. I think the Elura has less motor noise, my only complaint. Canon CCD and lens combo gives you a nice shot, above others in the range for sure.
3. IEEE 1394 every few days, easy with my Vegas 4.0 to capture, as well as some low end software I used in the beginning. Beware, you need Harddrrive space ( I got 400Gb) as every hour takes 12 Gbs and I have a 4 month old, so I've taken about 100 Gb so far of her and events with her..... Good luck

Thanks for the help, my plan is to copy the video to my pc then burn it to a dvd. Should work out well with the free software i get after a rebate(pinncle studio 8 and a 32mb sd card for free after rebate:))

Another Q, is there a huge difference between the 2 mp ccd on the optura xi and the 1.33 mp ccd on the optura 20. I am not doing anything proffesional but i want my video to look good and not grainy and pixlated
