Hi all,

I'd just thought I'd say a quick hello to ya'll from London, England. I'm not sure if you have many UK members, though I won't presume to be your 1st.

I ordered my Axim from the UK Dell website last week. I plumped for the Advanced version, with the travel USB, big battery and leather case as options. I went for this unit mainly due to the price and the number of excellent reviews I have seen. The fully configured version here is the same price as a no-frills iPAQ. I also ordered a 512MB CF card for storage. (Approx UK£100 (US$165-ish) from dabs.)

As most here, I wanted the best that my hard-earned salary could buy, (and was aiming to replace my much loved and much used Palm III) but thought that existing PPCs were over priced.

There's a 2 week lead-time on the Axim, so I'll find out if the product leads up to its hype in a few days. The Dell Axim has obvously set a new price point for the PPC. Hats off to them for shaking up the market. 'Tis only good news for all PPC users.

Where is everyone else from?

JJ.

Hi - from another UK member :)

I ordered mine last week as well. The latest date I've received is the 27th of Feb, so still a while to go.

Welcome to the club! I think if you edit your profile you can show where you are and the board is set to display whatever you put there. I lived in Honington, nr. Bury St. Edmunds for 2.5 years. Loved the countryside.

Hi,

I'm also from the UK & placed my order early on the 4th of Feb for the Axim 400. Thought that I beat the rush but on the last visit to the Dell website I have also noticed that my Dell will now only ship around the 27th ... Makes me wonder if they ever had stock ?

Cheers

Hello, I'm not from the UK but all of my wifes family is. Her Dad grew up in Huddersfield and I think that her Mom is from Yorkshire. Anyways, we are coming out to London in a month or so to stay a couple days and then cruise into Yorkshire to see the rest of the family.

If there's any MUST SEE type stuff to do while we're in London, e-mail it to me (don't want to clutter up the forums with that stuff) I'd love to get some more "insider information".

Thanks,

I too ordered an Axim 400 3rd Feb, 9am in the UK and you guessed it the delivery date is 27th Feb.

This was after being told 7 days for delivery, i guess i'll have to be patient.

Hi Fellow UK's, Welsh Lad here (no sheep jokes please :P )

I want to take a look at one of these babies before I part with my money, so I will probably have to wait until the likes of Dixions stock them or until I bump into one of you lucky guys that have one in there pocket :D .

Does anyone know if any shop branchs are going to stock them or will they stay exclusive to mail order ?

I live part of my life in Canada although I’m a Jock and based in Aberdeen. I bought my Axim in Canada and got back on the 15th January. Someone else beat me to the first Axim in the UK and Scotland; I can’t remember who it was now.

Another Brit here

I'm in Birmingham, and as with many here it seems, ordered my Axim (with extra battery, spare cradle, external keyboard, and 64meg SD) the minute they went on sale.

Spreading the good word . Put it up on sprinklerhead.com - but only after I'd got mine ordered

Just managed to get the dell order tracking working, and getting a delivery date of the 7th of March

Ho Well, it should be worth the wait

Mark
