Why the heck do those people get and fill those frog sounding sites? blog... Why would you prepare a personal diary and publish it on the 'net. Who are you? Are you someone famous? If someone took your picture on the street you would ask "DId you just take my picture, why did you do that" or "you don't have right to take my picture without permission", yet you still publish whatever you do on the web. What's your point. If you link your blog to your signature, what is the point?
I really don't get those people. Please someone explain it to me what is the reason, what is the point, what is the purpose...

I don't have a blog, but I've often considered starting one. What's the problem? At the very least, it's a nice way to keep a modern-day diary. It would be great to be able to look back 10, 20, 50 years from now and see where you were in your life and what you thought about certain events in your life or in the world.
And if others find it interesting, well that's just an added benefit IMHO. My only hesitation is that I wouldn't want my friends and family to read it ... I wouldn't feel like I could be completely open an honest knowing that my mom or girlfriend was reading my blog.

I've actually been working on starting a blog myself. I like to discuss things and voice my opinion. A blog is a great venue for that. Most blogs allow others to comment on what you've written, and I think feedback is great. I'm also a creative nonfiction writer, so I obviously don't have a problem with my writing being published.
I do agree with Xyress, though, that there's a lot of stuff I wouldn't put on my blog because of family...I'll save that stuff for the private home journal. ;)

I have a blog, I outlines all the cazy things i do here at USAFA, It help cut down the number of people asking me the same question over IM, and I lets me post pictues of all the cool things i do. I have my own website I post it on, so I have plenty of webspace for the pictures.

I am the virus of signature. Being placed in my your signature, therefore me it continues to duplicate, it is possible. Resistance is not useful!
to "blog", one thing, to write a story or just blah is another. I'd perefer to read blah. After all it is a story or something that is interesting not one thing about what he did, where he was, or what he got on his home ed. class.
One can try to improve him/herself by writing some stories or little short novels, and not call them "blog".
Diary? Would you donate your diary , especially ladies, to a library for others, possibly the "silly boys" to take out? It is the same thing. To have a blog or to give diary to a library. Those who read others' blogs would most likely that those out.. and have to pay late charges for like a dime a month or so..

non-blogger here. if i want to keep a journal i will keep it on my hardrive and password protect it. that way i can write how i feel without fear of who may read it. and i do not read others blogs.
