I just want to encourage everyone on this site to go and get your flu shots. According to the CDC, the outbreak of influenza is going to be especially rampant this year. If you have not done so, do so!!!!

Demand for the flu shots is outpacing the supply. The two pharmas producing the vaccine are already out.

Oh, and also consider the two weeks it takes for the vaccine to be effective. Your body needs to sufficiently make antibodies against the virus.

I heard some guy say that he estimated that something like 7000 people would die this year because of this flu string.

It must be worse this year.

I have been taking the Flu shot for many years, and will continue. Wish I could convince my wife into doing so.

While the flu shots WILL still be helpful....the imunizations that they prepared for this year do not cover the strain of influenza that they are now afraid we are going to encounter based upon the reported cases so far. This is why the are forecasting such high death tolls. I will for go the shots like always too. They are also saying it might be good to protect your "personal space" and keep about 3 ft away from other persons. and wash your hands more frequently.

My employer gives them to all employees, free of charge, so I definitely got one. I guess I am lucky because I have never had any ill effects from the flu shot.

I didn't notice any effects either, and I don't mind shots. But the ones from the dentist where they numb the gums I hate :p
