Repair or Cut the losses?

While sitting in class this morning (after having gotten an hour and a half of sleep), I pushed my backpack forward on the desk to get more room, and the next thing I know its going off the edge. I usually don't have my axim in my bag for just this reason, but operating on that hour and a half of sleep, my mental processes wernt that sharp this morning. Upon picking up my back, the first thing I thought to myself was "Wouldn't it be ironic if my screen broke." And sure enough, the bag landed such that the entire force of the 20lb bag was focused on the edge of the screen above the buttons. You can see telltale impact discolorations on the back of the iholster, and the bottom of the axim's screen is quite shattered. After all that long windedness, a replacement screen is $150+shipping. Do i spend the cash, or risk heresy and cut my losses and go with something newer (smaller/more integrated/etc) from someone else? Theres no warranty left on the axim, and I only paid $200 for the 400mhz. Opinions?

if i could afford it (if i were you) i would buy new X5 advance. $269 right now. otherwise - i would repair. not gonna get a pda as flexible as the ax for the repair cost. imho.

The toshibas are the only ones down close to that price range but they are 300mhz (the ones that are $199)

i agree with hnelson. if you can fish out the money just get a new X5 advance. expecially if you use it all the time, then you will have another warranty protecting you. with getting the screen repaired the most you will get is an additional 90 days and only on the new screen, not the whole unit.

I'd get a new x5 (and more than an 1.5 hours of sleep) :)
