Misleading Writeup re 2nd Cradle

Not too happy with Dell at the moment.

I ordered a 2nd cradle expecting as the literature indicates, to be able to sync up and "charge" the ax (suggesting that there is a power cord. No, only the cradle gets sent - so no power to power the cradle. Some sort of indication that a supplemental component MUST be ordered would really help.

Bad Dell, you're nickle & dime-ing me to death!!

This is old news... I would have thought Dell would have updated their website by now. Many have fallen into that problem. The picture doesn't show the AC cord but when was the last time you trusted a picture on a website. ;)

Yep, I fell too. I think Dell might be better off just charging the amount for power supply and cradle since very few would drag the cradle around and constantly having to shlep the power cord is a drag too. I think I am going to order the "charging sync cable" that I saw in the aftermarket.

what about Moonlight-tech?

Here is a 3 piece set that I'm considering ordering...a USB sync and charge cable, a power outlet cable (that can handle Euro power if you have a plug adaptor for traveling) and a lighter power adaptor all for $21. YES i agree it looks cheep...but if it works..hey why not!

Since the USB Cradle description on the Dell website extolls the benefits of it for CHARGING the Axim over and over again, I figured it would be ready to charge my Axim when I pulled it out of the box. I thought they accidently left the charger out, so I contacted Dell support.

I eventually reached some senior customer service rep. He told me I'm the only person who's been mislead by that description ! He didn't think that explicitly stating " the cradle does not come with an AC adapter" would help avoid confusion on that point.

I sent Dell an email pointing them to this thread.

you are not the only person who fell for this. I was also did. I thought the same and I have had my for over 1 year so this is an ongoing misunderstanding.

I can't say positively that this helped me get access to a senior customer service rep (and I'm not advocating that you do the same) BUT...

I copiedmy complaint to: john_hamlin@dell.com

http://www1.us.dell.com/content/topi...us&l=en&s=corp

I'm sure that if Dell executives really knew how many people think the charger issue is a scam by Dell to rake in more money on extra accessory orders, they'd do something about it. Right ?

Cool Same thing

Same thing happend to me about 4 months ago. I was throughly po'ed by the response I got from Dell CS and called numerous times (and was, litterly routed all around the world) Finally after at least 14 calls and being insistant about my being right (I never once rasied my voice or was ugly with any one) They sent the power cord to me to shut me up. Just a note I have since sold the cradle to another user and got the set up for the travel connection and like it better.
Stand your ground and be the custoemr, stay nice and just maybe it will work out for you. If not ask for a RA# and send it back.
:p

When I ordered a 2nd cradle with my X5 and they didn't send a power adapter, I called and complained to CS and they sent me one for free. :-)

Got into the same trap on the 2nd cradle. Spend approx. $40. and it is just sitting. I spent $14.00US and brought a 3rd paty travel pack for auto and AC. Now all my AXIM purchases are 3rd party.

I have the same problem. Did you had any problems finding a third party AC adapter with a connector that fits into the cradle?

A

Check out the sponsers

Many of the sponsers on the home page have these items. Just shop around. There are many more options and sources now.
