I have been searching and searching but i am not able to find a Java Vm for my Pocket pc...
A quick history --- I used to own a BE-300 (A pocket manager). I got personal java and made apps for it. I even made a website (excuse address - http://www.classrecess.com/ ) where i posted the apps i made and even included applets to view on the spot...
anyhow, my BE-300 broke and and quit on the website. Now i have an Axim x3i, i want to get java on it... but the Personal java on my website does not work, mips and sh3 version...
I've not seen a free Java VM for Pocket PC. Seems most mobile java development occurs on the Palm side. There are a couple Java VMs that cost money, but none are worth the cost.
You cannot use a MIPS verson on the ARM processor. You'll need to find a ARM version of Java...
Don't bother, you'd be better off using C++ or even .NET since both are actually supported (but I assume you are a Java programmer since you really seem to want it).
Yhea... i am a Java programmer... All the stuff on the site i wrote...
Its a little anoying that my 166mhz Win CE 3.0 Pocket Manager (not pocket PC) was able to run them and my axim isnt... unless i want to fork out 50$ for a free java VM... :realmad:
My bro used to program Delphi like 2 years ago... and he /kinda/ started this year again, but he doesnt know anything about .net i think... i could ask him for help though. But I'd really appriciate it if you could find a VM or anything...
If anybody finds something, please post it here and email me if you want... fakejunk5825@yahoo.com (my junk email incase) ;)

There are 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.
Have you tried SuperWaba Java VM? They support both PocketPC and PalmOS. The download is free.....they only charge for support. I have not personally tried it out, but a couple of guys I used to work with ran the PalmOS versions with no problems.
You have to register at their site in order to do much of anything, but it just takes 30 seconds or so.

Just noticed the "End User" link on their website, where you can download the CAB file without registering on their site. Click Here For Link
You should just be able to grab the "superwaba.PocketPC_ARM.CAB" file, copy it over to your Axim, and run it in File Explorer to install. Now I'm not sure if it supports WM2003 or not, but it's worth a shot. Good luck.

Thanx, but i've played with waba... Correct me if im wrong, but i think it only runs compiled "waba" files....
What i mean is that Waba probably uses a different compiler than normal Java... Therfore Java i write and compile wont work... i will have to write in Waba instead... get the drift?
Im not sayin that im right, but im sure its something to that effect...
Thanx anyway... still searchin the net for PersonalJava...

Call Sun, if they want Java on all platforms, they should support Pocket PC. You should see the Java SDK for Palm, its totally night and day compared to what we have.
Also, one other option that I just thought of.....
NetFront 3.1 browser. It's one of the best PPC browsers around, and supports Personal Java 1.2a in the advanced version of NetFront. You can pick up NetFront 3.1 with Java support for under $20 right now.....much cheaper than the $50 Jeode (or whatever else Java VMs are out there), and you get a great browser as well. Not sure if this will even do what you are wanting, but just thought I'd toss the idea out to you.
