Docking station (since it's a PC make it able to replace a desktop)
I'd have one if the price point made sense.
Exactly what I was referring to. Yes, people can use "full size" PC accessories, but most owners of an expensive device like this would prefer "model specific" accessories instead. These accessories would be much more compact, slim form factor, and have the same "look" as the device itself.

Well the device does come with a docking stations, as well as a cable allows you to connect it to a monitor which also has extra usb and fire wire ports on it.
As for portable devices, I mean they could make their own or you could just use the many portable CD/DVD burners or hard drives out there for when they are on the road. And I wouldn't call them "full size" accessories as you can get some pretty small pocket drives and CD burners out there. Although I'm not sure some one who wants a product like this would really bring devices like this with them when on an everyday basis as it would kind of go agains the point of having an ultraportable device. Some one who wants these features built in needs a laptop.
What other accessories would you need on the road, I mean this has built in wi-fi and Bluetooth, as well as keyboard and mouse controls. I'm sure they will include a case or a company out there will make one for it, and it seems most people prefer third part cases any ways.
Considering a laptop costs less and has more features and better performance they better think of some type of accessories or add ons.
Keyboard is too small to be useful for a lot of typing, it's too big to serve as a classic PDA, so they better have some neat toys and ideas on how to use them.
Like Deftech mentioned, besides accessories, beating the vaporware image will be tough.
I knew a company that built a flat panel computer. Essentially a laptop screen with the laptop guts beneath. Great gadget, lots of features. And for a slow model (relative to the current computer speeds) it was a steal at over 3,000 dollars. Needless to say the company went the way of the dodo.

How could this be the next gen ppc? It would take 30 seconds for the thing to boot up. And it would be futile with a battery that small. Unless they made some sort of new battery cell. Yea, yea, crusoe, yea, yea, I heard it all, but it would still take an extreme ammount of battery power to operate.
Look into the tiqit. It is already been at comdex, and it is pretty much the same thing in the formfactor of a blackberry.
According to the TechTV article, you can get about 6 hours per charge.

How do you know they didn't? There is an Embedded version of Windows XP.

Originally posted by Jwilker except those people who have USB 2.0 devices already. Not to mention (AFAIK) Firewire still doesn't come close in the market share USB has.
Really, I would think fire wire was more wide spread then USB 2. Fire wire's the standard for mini DV camcorders, it can be found on some high end SLR digital cameras, and there are a ton of external hard drives and CD/DVD burners that are fire wire. A lot of companis actually have both usb 2 and fire wire connectionson their external drives and burners.
It's out there for sure but I don't think it's come close to USB 2.0 Especially with the number of people who already have USB equipment, they won't be likely to abandon it.
USB keys, which seem to be more and more popular would work but XP and 2000 both have kaniption fits about low speed USB in high speed ports.
Too each his own but I wouldn't own it with USB 1.1

Firewire has become more of a "Digital Video" standard, whilce USB 2.0 has become more of a "Computer Peripheral" standard.
You'll find that Firewire is used for true digital video connections on many new HDTVs, HD-DVD, DVCR, etc. And as was already mentioned, of course, DV camcorders. This is much better than the Component Video cables used on many 1st/2nd gen HD equipment, because component video was still in essence an analog connection.....it was just very high quality. But Firewire is true digital, plus it's only 1 cable to hook up instead of 3.
USB 2.0 seems to be used mostly for computer peripherals like external hard drives, thumbdrives, card readers, multimedia players, etc.

I'm a Windows user and I wouldn't consider a USB 2 only external drive or burner, even though on paper it suppose to be faster, fire wire in real life is better.
Any ways, if they actually get a chance to release this product, I'm sure they will come out with a model with USB 2.0, heck maybe even fire wire 800. I just want to see his thing come out. Moreso that other manufacturers will take note, I'd like ot see what Sony or HP, or even Dell would do with this idea.
