System Restore?

My parents are going to install McAfee Parental Controls on my computer (i have XP) and i dont want any of that crap on my computer cause i wont be able to download games and stuff so if i created a system restore point right now with out the program, when it is installed if i just go back to that point will the program be gone?

I wont ask what games you are downloading.:hide:

Anyways, yes, that should work.
Or, you can backup you hdd on another, and just restore it that way (recommended).

Or just uninstall it after it's installed.

Most are password protected and won't allow it to uninstall without the pasword.

The Restore Point wouldn't work with my son .. As soon as I would go to check the logs on the computer I'd instantly know what he did. So I'd just take the computer .. Like to see him cirumvent that one :D

A quick check on Mcafees website shows that this program is password protected. In my house the restore point and ALL undesired programs would be deleted before installation of a parental control system. My nephew thought he could get around everything when he broke the password on his families computer. Now he is not allowed to use the family computer and he has his own computer which has no modem, network card or games !

I'd bet that it was not a matter trust but most likely a matter of rule breaking. Kids don't get punished for being trustworthy.

I would have gotton a distribution of Knoppix-STD, a variation of the best CD bootable linux imo. It comes with alot of security and network mangement tools, theres a list of the different types on the website. To get to the point it has password software for cracking windows passwords. This ofcourse is legitimately used if you forget your password, but can also be used in your case. This doesn't help you now, unless you want to do it again in which case good luck with. I can't circumvent anything, my dads been a computer technician for the last 17 years, I wouldn't want to anyway.
