Since I wrote my earlier message, I've had email contact with "US_DHS_Notify", with rather puzzling results. Maybe someone here can help me figure out what they mean -- although their messages appear to be in English, they certainly didn't communicate much to me.
I replied to their notification of the delay by asking,

After looking at your site, it appears that the item that is holding up my order is the Axim folding keyboard. Is it possible to split my order or to delete that item from my order and get the Axim itself sooner?

We are pleased to assist you with your inquiry. I have updated your account and consented to your order.

Uh, what? "Consented to" my order? I suggested
two different possibilities for expediting the shipping of the Axim itself -- is this referring to either of those approaches? And if so, to what effect?
I wrote back,

I'm sorry, I didn't understand your message completely. Could you be clearer about exactly what you have done with my order? Did you split the order so that the folding keyboard will come later than the rest of the order, or did you delete the folding keyboard from my order completely? And when should I expect the Axim 400 to ship, as a result of this change?

The equally cryptic reply:

We have continued the order.

At that point, I gave up. The online status
still says that the expected ship date is "on or before 2/24." I figure it will get here when it gets here. Happily the PPC I'm replacing is just flaky, not defunct, so I can probably nurse it along until whenever that might be. However, if anyone has any suggestions for what "consenting to" and "continuing" my order might mean in this context, I'd be interested. :crooked:
