Arrow Some linux help please?!?!

Hey! I installed linux on a 760el laptop.. well i decited to remove linux and install win98.. well I formatted the drive with winxp, but there is still a hidden boot partition for linux on the drive i cannot seem to remove, I have tried using the linux fDisk program to remove the partition.. i just told it to remove partitions 1-4.. and so I am trying to setup win98 but.. right when i get into the graphical win98setup it will give me a message saying
------------------------------------------------
Message SU0013
Setup cannot create files on your startup drive and connot set up windows 98.

If you have HPFS or NTFS, you must create an MS-DOS boot partition. If you have LANtastic server or SoerStor compression, dissable it bofore running setup. See Setup.txt on Setup disk 1 or the windows 98 CD.

Well I have the drive formatted as FAT32 with 4.4gb free space.. :crooked:
how do I get rid of this linux boot partition??! I love this site! :D

I would try a Windows 98 Start up disk, load that up, run fdisk and kill all partitions with that and start again.

Go to http://www.microstorage.com/Harddriv...20Life%20Guard and download either wipe or zap and give one of them a shot. After using them (I've never used them though sorry) I would assume you'd then just run fdisk again and make your partitions, format, and try again. :)

You can just rewrite the bootsector with:
fdisk /MBR

I had that problem too. I used low level format to get it off:)

Look for gparted, a Linux-based partition tool.
