Dell UK Shipping times? (and Orderwatch not working)

Just after some (Dell?) feedback on UK Shipping times...

I ordered the Axim (and a bunch of accessories) on 7th Feb, UK website stating 2 weeks delivery (e.g. 21st - TODAY!!)

Confirmation (Letter, by Post): Est. *Delivery* 2nd March (perhaps matches to a Warehouse Ship date of 21st? By Pigeon Post, perhaps?)

Registered with Orderwatch: 1st check (around 14th) showed estimated *Ship* (NOT DELIVERY) date of 18th Feb. (Hurrah - perhaps it'll still arrive on by 21st Feb?????)

Subsequent checks via Orderwatch provided WEB URL, for last 7 days, NOT WORKING.

Spoke with a real Dell person<?> today - confirmed 'problem' with order, and her system shows estimated *Ship* Date of 18th March. No reason noted in the system for the delay. Awaiting call back......

Dell UK Website still stating "Allow 2 weeks for Delivery".

Do Dell part-ship? Or would a delay on a single accessory, delay the whole order? (i.e. to keep shipping costs down, as per other threads regarding Dell's manufacturing/operating model?).

Also, another thread suggested that US deliveries were from various US State based warehouses, and that stock levels would obviously vary State to State... but I assume the UK is one ship point in Europe, and therefore are all UK buyers suffering similar problems????

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I ordered my Axim 12/2/03. It was delivered 19/2/03. Orderwatch did not work at first but I was sent an email witha link that did the trick. Once dispatched from Dell it was possible to track the delivery.

No complaints.

:D

Mad UK order - pushed out another 2 weeks??

Don't know if anyone's interested (i.e. still reading this thread), but I thought I'd update it.... (if for no other reason than to clear out a pent-up rant). Other UK customers might be interested.....

Still no response received from Dell UK re: delivery of main order (placed 7th Feb) , so kept calling Customer Care (UK/Ireland).

Ironically received an Axim Power Supply in the post this week. Nothing else. I swear they're just teasing me..... what use is the damn PSU without the AXIM??!! :rolling:

Spoke with Customer Care (UK) again (4 times). On the last occasion, got told that my original order has been cancelled. Great. (Nobody told me...). 2 new orders created, one for the PSU, and one for the rest of the order (Axim, battery, etc.). System apparently shows expected ship date of the 'rest of order' (due to 'awaiting component'<?>) now as.... 18th March. Fabulous. Not only have they taken my money for a (currently) useless PSU, I now have an expected elapsed wait time of over 4 weeks (when the website stated, and STILL states, 2 weeks).

I think I'm beginning to understand BruceP's frustration (i.e. it's not the waiting - it's the lack of accurate [or any!] info....). And Orderwatch still states it can find my order but not provide a status. Great tool.

That Toshiba e740 is beginning to look interesting again..... especially after the recent price drops in the UK... ;)

P.

(Basking - was that an Internet, or Phone order? Thanks.)

Still waiting. 'cause you guys continue to rave about the Axim. And I really want one. (But frustration levels are building rapidly)

BASKING - confirm model for me???

Basking - help me out here!!!

Can you confirm whether your Axim was a 300Mhz or 400Mhz? Thanks.

I still can't get an answer from Dell UK as to why my order (for a 400Mhz and accs.) continues to be delayed. And no reason why the PSU was singled out for early delivery over and above everything else (i.e. cannot see rationale behind part shipping just that one item, when there's the Axim, and about 4 other accessories).

Getting really frustrated now....

wish I could be a ray of sunlight!!

... but I can't; not yet.

Waited 42 days on first order trying to figure out what their site was trying to tell me... canceled and reordered without accessories. Not looking for ANY meaning at their "order status" site but retain the email addresses of Dell reps. New order "est ship date" is March 10. If they make that time frame I will say thank you for the free 3 year warranty my screeching has gotten me. If they don't manage March 10, well as you say there are other brands!
Still waiting after 42 + 5!

Well i ordered my 400Mhz Axim on the 8th Feb on the internet.... Was unable to check my order status as the link in the e-mail i recieved from dell had some wrong info in it. Finally got into the order status thing when my order confirmation letter came through. Kept tracking it on-line everyday, the delivery date changed from over a month down to 2 weeks to get it. Then found out it had been shipped and used the order tracking of the courier to keep tabs on it...... it finally arrived on the 25th.

I just think you were unlucky, might have been something to do with the accessories you ordered with it as they may have not been available in the warehouses, as the Axim had only just come out.

Yahhooooo - Just tonight, order moved from "2 - Pre-Production" to "4 - Being Prepared for Delivery". Estimated Delivery Date moved back (forward?) from 18th March to 10th. Looks like I'm in a race with BruceP...!!!!

But Dell UK Customer Service?? I left them them alone for a week (kind of me??!!) as I wasn't getting any sensible info ("..sorry, the system only tells me dates, no info. on why or which component, is causing the delay...")....

So, sent 2 emails this week (via their website), with 4 specific questions about why my order was split, what was delaying, etc.....
1st one ignored. 2nd one got the response: "Due to the demand on this product we are unfortunately working on a hugh<?> backlog of orders at the moment, thus the delay."

So, I responded and again asked for answers to my questions. And got: "Please let me apologise on this delay ,we our<?> encouring<?> a parts shortage which is causing the delay to this order we will endeavour to improve this date but at the moment cannot give you an exacte<?> date."

So, UK Customer Care can be interpeted as "keep stalling until the order ships". Oh well, seems to have worked. I'm still looking forward to receiving said Axim. Just can't help feeling that lack of info. from Customer Service has left a really bad taste in the mouth...

Hope my next post is a Technical Query on my new Axim....(here, not with Dell!!!!!).

Cheers, P.

Put this thread to bed!

O.K. - Axim received on 11th March, no further slippage on shipping dates since 'new order' raised.

Still not impressed with UK Customer Care - splitting order, swapping order numbers on me without my knowledge, no answers to specific questions, a lack of information of the type that I would expect a company to be able to put their fingers onto, referring to product order/shipping logistics. But hey - I've got my Axim (albeit 5 weeks after ordering it), so prepared to draw a line under all this.

And the folding keyboard is a gem of design.

Worried online ordering / tracking.

up until 10.00pm last night my order had the following info:

"Your order is currently in manufacture. It will then go into testing before it is shipped. Unfortunately we do not have a delivery date as of yet, however you can estimate the ETA of 5-7 working days barring any technical issues, although if we can get it to you sooner, we will. Please do not hesitate to e-mail us again in 48 hours and we will happily update you on status."
received in an email when i complained that i had heard nothing from date of order , and had no order no , only a confirmation of order receipt.

this morning , from an email with proper order no and customer number , i find that it was shipped on the 12th.
delivery is stated as today , but no phone call from couriers which is supposed to be 24 hours before delivery.

website for tracking has last movement on friday.
phone call to carriers states 'delivery sometime today , before 6.00pm'

three emails to dell are still unanswerred from before saturday.

i'm glad i'm not in a rush for this.
