Just purchased a X5 Advanced from eBay last Sunday nite. The unit was advertised that it came with WiFi, and WM2003, great shape, cradle manuals 32M CF card, LNIB, etc.
It finally got here yesterday and is in great condition with everything EXCEPT a WiFi card and it came with PPC 2002. I email the seller stating that the OS is actually 2002 and there is no WiFi as advertised and get this curt reply that all sales are final (this is an individual - not a business.)
I paid $210 for this thing with shipping. I thought the price was fair for what was advertised. What I received is sort of making me feel "not so fresh".
This was paid for via PayPal. What are my options if this seller continues to take the hard line on making this transaction right? How much is the upgrade to WM2003?
BTW, the idiot left all his personal (including financial) information on the Axim when he shipped it. I pointed this out in my last reply.
I am sorry to hear this, but here is my opinion on what to do: I think that paypal/ebay offers a protection program for things like that. I would contact ebay, which would probably get him kicked off and you might get at least a partial refund. Also, windows mobile 2003 is not that much better than 2k2 (IMHO) so unless you were looking at specific programs that only work with 2k3, i think you should be fine. Of course, if you do get a partial or full refund, you can spend it on the upgrade for 2k3. Also, on ebay i would look for a symbol wifi card, they range from 20-40 dollars and the sellars tend to be honest. I would look at the seller doctorsurplus (not sure if that is the perfect spelling) but i would get one of those, great range etc, prob one of the best, if not the best, on the market. Thats my $.02

P.S. Since he still has his Personal Information on there, i would sign his e-mail(if it is on there) up for a lot of newsletters/junk mail if you are feeling particularly bitter.

First give him is big fat Negitive for feedback. Then tell him you are getting a court order to retrieve his personal info from ebay and paypal and for him to expect a process servor on his front door in a few days to give him his sepina to show up to court because you are sueing his ass for false advertisement of a product and mail fraud.
That should scare him alittle. Let him know that this whole thing can be dropped to save us all time and money if he just refunds your money.
Yah I'd say 50 bucks is a decent refund although IMO the 2003 upgrade is worth the $30 and a Symbol WiFi will cost you about 30 on ebay.
So you would still be out of $10.
But it's still a good deal.

I reminded him that his ad said WiFi in the title and WM 2003 in the specs listed for it. Also reminded him about his personal and financial info that was left on the device. THEN threw in the fact that it shouldn't be necessary to get eBay and PayPal involved. He had a change of heart at this point. :) We also left positive feedback for each other as part of the agreement.
Yeah, I'm still out maybe $20 or so but it would have cost $10 to ship it back. Heck - I would pay $20 NOT to have to make a run to the post office. The refund will pay for the wifi card with a little change left over.
what is the link to the auction. Maybe we should send emails to the indivual demanding our members money back?
