Hey, talking of power, the new Axim uses the same HGg3 (Hydrogen-Gathering Generation III) fuel cells. They are the same as the new Green-Earth GM powerplants just a micro scale. Heh, I can remember when they though the Wankle engine was the $hit.

Just wave the Axim around a few times and it should be powered up enough for another 2 months. Yeah the fuel cell life is half of the older HGv2 units but it doesn't leave water rings on the dining room table anymore either. I hated the sweaty PDA anyways.

One thing I wanted was the holographic display built in. I mean its great to watch movies displayed in mid-air instead of having to find a blank wall. Plus the new holographic display has full 3D viewing. I hated the 1st generation holographics having only 45 degree viewing angles on the zero and 180 axis. But you get what you pay for.

Don't worry about it. The X11 is vapor-prod. It is unfortunate though, that you missed the sale by one day. You could have gotten your model for $199 with a free solar adapter. Of course you'd have had to purchase the 1 gig CF card extra, but these days you can pick up one from the Best Buy "old technology" stock for $19.95.

The thing I like most about the new line of Dells is that it fully incorporates Dell OS 6.1 which is the choice of the majority of PC manufacturers since Microsoft went bankrupt due to the combination of user lawsuits and being declared a U.S. security risk.

well it seems that all of you folks have great setups here in the 'real world' .....

i was actually born in the Matrix, so my Dell Axim is a special Xion Edition (it's actually what the 'X' stands for) X5.99999E10, which is actually powered off the earth's core (and water cooled by the earth's oceans, i might add :))

it's actually so powerful, i'm actually inside it now

Well, unlike some of you, I had to wait a while for my Dell Axim Xw9 to come. Of all the great things that Dell does, their customer service and shipping still needs work...

However, I got the my Axim yesterday and it is awesome.

Thankfully, Verizon Wireless supports this model or I would have had to transfer my cell phone service.

First off, I have to commend Dell on the size difference between the X7, X3, and even the regular X9 compared to the Xw9. The Xw9 is smaller than both the 7 and 3 and only slightly larger than the 9. It is so much cooler looker than any PDA Dell has ever made. Even though it is slightly larger than the X9, I will deal with it because it works on the Verizon CDMA network.

PocketPC Phone 2004 is awesome. It is integrated perfectly in with the OS. Everything is as seamless as I wanted. Integrated Bluetooth, 802.11g (even 802.11m compatible with the xD card), USB on the go, Mobile FireWire, - Wow... this thing has everything. Although the X9 clocks in at 2 GHz, having the phone makes me accept the Xw9 1.6GHz processor without reservation.

I am also amazed at the UXGA screen. The resolution makes my old X5 (remember those) look like it is black and white. Further, the 1 Gig of Internal memory is a nice to have. The Compaq Ipaq 9000 only comes with 512MB. In fact, I do not know who would pay the $1100 for that model when they could purchase either an X9 or an Xw9.

The keyboard is pretty cool as well. Michael Dell is a genius. Not only does it slide out from the back of the unit, it also acts as a stand as well as a PC keyboard using the Bluetooth connection.

My only complaint is that I heard there is a possible X11 coming down the pipe in the next month. If Dell comes up with something that much better, I will be bummed that I just spent $599 on this model (I know, I know - there is also the $50 rebate and the free 1 GB CF card).

Anyway, that is my take on the Xw9. I will post another message on the site when I get my CF 3D Presenter.
thats a cool story, i wish they had one of those right now, i would buy it in a flash

In the not so distance future we won't need device's like PDA's or laptop's anymore they will just insert a chip into you brain..
It's not as far away from happening as you may think.

mmm, i just ran virfood.exe on my axim x38021 and that pizza is GOOD! I absolutly love the fresh cookie function. My only complaint is that my battery only has a life of about 5000 years and I will be approaching that soon, due to the fact that the x38021 extends life expectency to 10000 years. Yea I know the x38022 does it to 15000 but i didnt feel like spendin the extra 10 bucks. Oh well, i guess ill get it updated in a few hundred years when it actually starts to make a difference. Well im gettin bored of this post so i think ill go boot up the whee.exe, you know the one that makes you think you are flying? Well if you dont you should try it. Signing off :)
