If you use IE, definitely get the Google bar for the pop-up ad blocker.
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html prevents spyware from installing in the first place.

Can any of these non-IE browsers integrate with an Axim similar to IE and Activesync? I live in a ruraul area which has no wireless internet access. For this reason most of my PDA internet viewing is done by way of downloading offline websites.

I don't believe they can, that is a Microsoft Enhancement, which is not supported by non-MS Browsers.
