i think this is supposed to be a media device and not for more than one thing

it will be more for one use and not have the need to have too many extras

it still would be cool if it had some stuff like wifi with IE and word, etc. to play with though :D

My 15gb iPod has only 1.7gb left empty. SOme people do own a lot of music.

I can't imagine the crappy battery life this "killer" will get. Color screen playing video... Probably no more than a movies length in time before "please recharge me"

I'll keep video on my laptop, music on my iPod

well, true but not true about battery life, you can get an amazing amount of battery life out of some of these little media devices.....

i also hate the thing with ipods and the like where they say "holds 10,000 songs" or whatever they say

it all depends on the quality you use and many other things like track length

my friend has an ipod with just around 150 songs and he has used 1 gb already just for music if you do the math that is around 2200 songs in 15 gb instead of the estimated 10,000 :crooked:

i know you could get 10,000 but it would be at like 56k and who wants that ????

I'd return your iPod getting that crappy of battery life. I run mine all day at work and never have troubles. Apple's 8 hours has been proven by a number of iPod owners.

I doubt a color screen video player at regular settings could come close to an MP3 only player. Sure maybe if you turn the screen off, volume at half and all that other hoo-ha.

Who ever said there was truth in advertising LOL. As if the "X hours of video" the killer advertises will be any more accurate.

That 10,000 song estimate was for the 40 gb...

From apple.com:
Capacity
4GB, 15GB, 20GB or 40GB hard disk drive
Holds 1,000, 3,700, 5,000 or 10,000 songs in 128-Kbps AAC format
So, it does hold less, but not as much less as you thought. Also, i gurantee you that those 150 songs were in .mp3 format, which is a lot bigger than aac at the same quality (i think), so it probably does hold closeer to that 3700, but he probably also has longer songs, and i would guess that apple averages 3 minutes for song length, when realisticly its probably about 4.

sorry for my wrongs of quote there......

but also, I HATE ITUNES lol, had to get my anger out, i did a ton of work on my friends ipod and then when i was almost done, it deauthorized for some reason and boom formatting ipod and nothing i can do

it didnt even ask me if i wanted to deauthorize

o well, i guess ipods are ok but i still wish there was a better alternative, i do like the new bmw integration though :D http://www.apple.com/ipod/bmw

also as a small little thing, AAC files are too hard to use for me, barely anything comes in them and really not many things i use support them

LOL iTunes took some getting used to for me. I used Music Match religiously. But once you get going it's actually a very cool app. I've never been de deauthorized but worse case you just reauthorize and resync, shouldn't have been too much trouble right?

As if I needed more reasons to love BMWs

I just convert my AACs to mp3 :D

well actually, when you reautorize it formats the ipod, and resets it to factory new, so you have to redo music and any other upgrades/programs/contacts you added

i dont have anything against ipods, i would love to have one, i just paid as much for my axim as my friend did for his ipod

Right, I've done that a few times (firewire kept corrupting the drive on the iPod) I don't keep contacts though, not sure how that part works, much better tools for that stuff than the iPod. But the actual transfering of music does't take more than a few minutes, same with the firmware update.

They're definitely pricey, gotta love paying for name ARGH

I did return it. Then it broke again because the metal sides were seperating. That was basically the only $300 i had. :(
