Need help with USB slot!

a Shout-out to any PC Pros out there who can help me:

Is there an adapter available that will give you more USB ports? For example, I was thinking, is there some USB based plug that you plug into the port that will give you like 2, 4 or 6 USB ports?

Between the printer, my camera, my Axim, I have no room left.
I am sure there are other people on the site (I hope) have come across the same problem. I have a Dell PC that is only 2 years old, if that helps.

Solutions and feeback are very welcome.

Peace,
IU

It's called a USB Hub. They're plentiful. Check your local electronics/computer shop.

I am running one myself. I now have 7 usb ports on my copmuter. You can get a USB Hub at Radio Shack, Best Buy or Compusa. Make sure that you know if your computer is either a USB 1.0 or 2.0

just make sure you are not running more than 127 USB devices because you may run into some problems.

hmm never needed a USB port, my computers mobo has 8 USB2.0 ports, however my GF needed a USB hub as her lappy only had 4, anyways if you are going to buy a usb hub i suggest getting a USB 2.0 HUB with a power ADAPTER <-- make sure it has this or you will not be able to power some devices makeing your hub useless

thanks for the responses...I went to Bestbuy.com and it seems that the only USB ports for sale were 2.0. So my question is this:

1. If I can't use 2.0, is there a way to switch over (i.e., an adapter)?

Thanks again,
IU

I believe USB 2.0 should be backwards compatible, meaning you can use a USB 2.0 hub to connect to your USB 1.1 devices but you will still be limited to USB 1.1 speeds. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong! :)
