Strategy Games for Kids

My 5 year old likes to try to play Risk and Age of Empires--he sees his daddy playing them all the time. They are a little advanced for him, though. Are there any strategy games for kids around his age?

give him warcraft 2 battle.net edition ($10 or less). Its fun, cartoony, and simple. Plus, once he catches on, you can give him warcraft III: the frozen throne, and he can advance his playing skills.
