Delivery Date BS!
I am officially pissed off now.
I ordered my X30h on 6/23/04 and the estimated delivery date was 7/23/04 which was pushed to 7/26/04 now. Check this out.... My brother bought a X30h for full price (no discount) from the business section of the website on 7/16/04 (maybe 7/15/04) and he just received his today 7/22/04 (with overnight delivery).
Is this a mistake or does dell just not G.A.S. about the average user.
This deserves a hughe WTF.

overnight delivery sure was a scam. I paid for it and it took me like 3 weeks to get the damned thing.
Dell prolly does G.A.S. to an extent, but with their lack of parts, there isnt much they can do. You can always call and argue for some kind of rebate or something.

If you don't have enough parts for a high deman, I can understand that. But my brother ordered the exact same thing and he got in in his hand in 1 week. I on the other hand get my part after 1 month.
My Q. is why do they care more about customers ordering from their business site?

Dell does GAS, but business customers get priority, they are their largest customer base. Dell is a just in time provider, meaning that there is very little stock on hand. Consumer and business orders and inventories are handled by two separate departments. So it is not surprising that your brother received his first.
Next time do what I do, buy refurbished. I never buy new from Dell if they have a refurbished unit. You receive an automatic discount because it is refurbished plus whatever other discount they are offering at the time, plus I have always received the item in less than a week because the item is known to be in stock. And no I have never had any trouble with the refurbished stuff.

Overnight delivery has nothing to do with the actual build time of the unit. Once the unit is built and ready for shipment, your payment for overnight delivery comes into play (ie: unit is built on Monday, and with overnight delivery ships Monday night and arrives on Tuesday).
Dell should make this a little clearer when the order is placed...

If they had X30's refurbished I'd probably buy them. I usually prefer refurbished because its guaranteed to work like new, looks new, smells new, and is around 10-30% less than new equipment.
I always had good luck with refurbished...
