Looking for a PPC development tool

I'm looking for an application that will let me build a stand alone application. Can anyone recommend an application that will allow me to build a stand-alone application? I can't afford to spend a bazillian dollars, (or even close to it). Remember, I want to be able to build a stand-alone application, so that the user does not have to already own an application in order to use the one that I would like to build. Any help in this matter would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks!

You can download MS Embedded Visual Tools 3.0
(Includes eVC++ and eVB)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

If you use EVB Your users will have to have EVB Runtimes.

If you use eVC++ the programs can run stand alone.

Check out Forward Pass. Freeware development tool with a desktop utility for scripting & creation of CAB files for deployment. Supports JavaScript or emBedded Visual Basic(eVB) code.

Also Microsoft's eMbedded Visual Tools 3.0 - 2002 Edition. This is a complete package much like M$ Visual Studio and is also free.

I like ForwardPass, but that's probably because I don't have any eVB knowledge.

I have downloaded Forward Pass a couple of days ago, but thought that you had to have the forward pass app in order to use an "app" that you have created. I didn't know that you could create CAB files for deployment with it. Cool!

Holy Cow. I just downloaded eMbedded Visual Tools 3.0. This is so nice and it's FREE! Ok, now here's the magic question; (and please don't laugh at me for asking this), but where can I go on the web that offers tutorials on how to code in VB *using* the eVB? Does anyone know of any GREAT BEGINNERS books on this?

Is eVB different than VB6? And I've seen .Net runtimes for pocket PCs, so, is eVB really eVB.net?

They are not the same. I do not believe you can develop an app for the PPC with VB6. You can with VB.Net and it requires the device to have the .Net runtimes to run. If you use the eVB the device will need to have the eVB runtimes installed which can be downloaded from Microsoft for free.
