IRDA and C#

Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone has tackled any programming in C# on the PPC, or specifically, any IRDA apps?

I've only just begun with a IRDAClient sample that was included in the .NET SDK, but a basic DiscoverDevices call returns nothing

Cheers,
Bitter

The compact framework has native support for IRDA through the winsock API. Check out this book:

Programming Microsoft ® Windows ® CE .NET, Third Edition
http://www.stolin-software.com/04boo...56-1884-4.html

It has a whole chapter on IRDA & the .NET framework. Included is a fully functional code: IrSquirtCF program, which lets you transfer (squirt) files from one Irda device to another.

Hope this helps....

Looks like the content is what I want, but it's unfortunately all in C++ and I was hoping to leverage the C# I've put under my belt.

Still, I might give it a whirl.

Thanks,
Bitter

If I am not mistaken, that particular chapter is in C# though the rest of the book is in C++.

Is there even a C# compiler available from MS that will build stuff for ppc?

The only compiler is Visual Studio .NET.

Yup. VS.NET can build apps for the PPC. It even has a fancy-schmancy emmulator as well.

I think the only PPC requirement is the Compact Framework and, I believe, VS even packages that with your app on deployment if it detects that the framework isn't installed on the device.
