Its a VoIP program by the people who made kazaa. It allows you to chat with other users for free. You add people as contacts and when you call them, their computer rings. You need a mic too. There are versions for PC, Linux, and PPC.
It great! I would say the quality is = to or > than a Land Line telephone. Works best when both parties have a headset . . . This reduces echo.
Also, just as an FYI, they updated the Skype PC client on Aug. 18th, so if you installed it before then, download the new version and install it over your current version . . .

When you Install Skype, does it put on that P2P manager or something along those lines with it? like what Kazza does --- it does afterall rely on P2P technology. So basiclly i'm asking what else does it install to run... I know it doesn't have Spyware -- like what do u need to run it, not system requirement but like do u need the P2P patch from Microsoft?
