IE error message since SP2

Hi Everyone. Anyone else seen this error message when visiting a website? It pops up and I have to select OK. The problem is that when it pops up, something is preventing me from getting into the website I am trying to visit. I have cookies set to prompt me for permission, so that I can block them if I choose to. Anyone know a way around it other than lowering my privacy all the way down?

Never had this issue until I upgrades to SP2.

I'll take a shot @ this one. I've pretty much tweaked the heck out of my IE Security settings since the Beta of SP2. First, what site specifically do you receive this error.

MS made some major security lockdowns with IE to prevent Malware scripts and such from being installed on ones machine. This is great, but it can get in the way as well.

It does sound like your IE sec level is too high, and you could bump it down to medium.

Here's what I would recommend you do from the get go to @ least see if this eliminates your error:

In IE, click tools - internet options, then click the security tab. Click the "Custom Level" button.

Make the following changes:

ActiveX Controls and Plugins
Automatic prompting for ActiveX Controls
Enable

Downloads
Automatic Prompting for Downloads
Enable

Here's what this will do. It will eliminate that stupid bar from bleeping and dropping down when it detects a file download or ActiveX control.

You will be prompted as to whether you wish to run it, so you're really not compromising security. It will be just like it was prior to SP 2. These are the first 2 changes I make to IE after applying SP2.

Give this a shot and we'll go from there. Once you've made the changes, Click OK, Apply, blah, blah, until you're back to the Main IE screen. Shut down and restart your browser, then go back to the page that was throwing you for a loop.

I have no troubles getting to the Nextel Accessories page in IE.

Here'a another thing you can try:

Go into the same place you were when you made those 2 changes. Select Medium and then click the reset button, then OK. Then go back in and make the 2 changes from my last post, then click OK, Apply. Restart IE.

Also, another thing you can try would be to disable the integrared pop up blocker in IE. We'll keep plugging @ it.

I was having the same problem with SP2 and my bank website. I went to the lowest security setting, set it as a trusted website, and a few other tweaks, none of which worked so I ended up just restoring to SP1.

it now works. disabling the pop up blocker did the trick, even though the page i was visiting does not have any pop up screens.

thanks all for the help!

SP2 seems to be a waste. First install directly from their updates HOSED my Dell 4800. I had to go to recovery console to even get it to boot.

that isn't the first problem i have had since SP2 came out. 25% of the time that i start my computer my wifi card will not conect to my router or will connect but with "limited connectivity" and won't let me online. takes a restart or disabling and enabling wifi for it to work.
