Diabetic Log
Does anyone know of a good program to keep track of your blood sugar readings? It would be nice to also have a space for comments to record what I ate, etc.

Excel
I don't know of any medical software but I have been using Excel to keep track of my Blood work ups for a few years now, as well as work done on my car, and GPA from college. They all converted fine on my X30, I did have to resize them but it is very functional.

I am working on one, will let you know when it is done. I may rush it out just to get it done, and add more features later. It will eventually track your weight, BMI, what you are eating, set weight loss goals, track excercise, etc.
I will be posting it on sites when it is done. I can't promise it will be free, but it won't be expensive. I may charge $5.95 or something just to help me do this kind of thing more. As it is I haven't had enough time or money to put as much time as I could into this.
I was doing pretty well but had to redesign some to have it VGA compatible, and have full rotate support.

I use a HandBase database that tracks my readings. I downloaded it from DDHSoftware's gallery (already had Handbase). I'm also sure you can add fields if you choose.

Let me know what you think of the design, and features you can make out from the screen captures. Even if you have a program you are happy with and aren't lookin for another one... I could use the feedback while I am in the design phase, rather than in the bug fix/correction phase. =)
Edit:
Got busy with other things I'm afraid. I will definitely post here again when I have time to work on it. Updated 8/10/05

Is the app also useable for the European diabetics like SiDiary is?

Good question. Actually I am currently back tracking now to add language files and the ability to use metric (smart) and American (dumb) measurements. (Just to clarify, I am American, who finds our measurement system dumb, but recognize the uselessness of fighting it at least here).
I originally intended this program only for me. However, when asking for input and programming help I received a lot of input and questions about if I was making it available. So I have began the process of designing it for others on the off chance people are interested.
GlucoControl to look too Vanilla and leave out a lot of options I want to see. SiDiary is a lot more technical, which is fine, but is has a lot of features that a lot of Type II diabetics don't need or want, and leaves out some we could use.
ALOT of Type-II diabetics could control their sugar with responsible diet choices and minimal medication if they lost weight (60% of America and a growing number in other nations are Obese or Overweight, I am one of them, acceptance is the first step).
If people seem interested I will do the reasearch necessary to learn more about the technical information contained in the SiDiary and allow a lot more choices in user profiles.

It s not only about the launguages file. I understand what you mean, but I merely ask you a question you will be ask by others when you put it up for free of for sale. I am just thinking ahead:)
Like I did with Sidiary and I started up to translated it to Dutch.

Have you checked out EZ Manager by Animas? I love all the different features it has. Pity it is only for Palm as I'd gladly pay $100 for it. I'm type 1 and have to test and record many times daily.
Basic features that I really want in an app-
1 - Insulin dose calculator - allow us to put in our ratios (target, carb:insulin, and correction factors) as a baseline. I want to be able to record my blood glucose and how many carbs I'm eating and have it spit a dose out at me. I'm not sure how familiar you are with diabetes, but in my case, I have to take 1 unit of insulin for every 25 grams of carbs I eat, inject 1 unit for every 40 points if I'm over my target, and eat 1 gram of carbs to raise my blood sugar 3 points if I'm under. Everyone is a little different and always changing. The math is simple, but tedious.
2 - Make the data easily exportable to excel. My doctors aren't too high tech, but they can all open an excel file. Makes things a lot easier and avoids trips to the doctor.
3 - Automatic time and date logging. Less buttons to push. Enough said.
4 - Basic stats and graphs. Nothing fancy, just a few basic averages and trendlines.
5 - Prescription and misc. information. I have to remember to keep track of all my different meds (i.e. make sure I don't run out), appointments, etc. I know there are other apps out there that do just that, but it would be nice to have a little internal reminder/notes capability.
I'm sure there are more, but I'll leave my suggestions at that for now. There is definitely a market for a good diabetes management app. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for anything that makes tracking and managing a little easier.

I think SiDiary works great too. If also gives you several advices, based on the blood suger level, activity and bloodpressure.
With the latest version you also can use templates. Sidiary are two parts. One PPC(or smarphone2002/2003 PPC2002/WM2003) part and one Win32 part.
There is a support forum.
And the software is totally free!
Below the basic fatures:
Suitable for all diabetes types (Type I-, Type II-, Lada, Pregnancy-/Gestational-diabetes etc.) with or without medication (Pills, Insulin) and for all therapy types (Basetherapy, CT, ICT, Pumper etc.)
Analysis, diagnosis and graphical feedback for adjusting your diabetes condition (available on all devices)
Direct feedback for new values increases your motviation drastically
Nutrition database for a lookup of food details (carbs, fat, protei etc.)
Other:
Simple interface for data entry, use of different devices for entering data (Windows-PC, PocketPC, Cellphone) with automated sync-mechanism and merging of all data. Available in 15 languages, eng. French, Spanish, Italian and German among others
Several import-, export- and print functionalities for archiving as print-outs or as a log for your doctor.
Latest version is 4.0 and you can check it out HERE

Hello folks!
I'm looking for a software package that can read the IrDA transfer of my glucometer, an Accu-Chek Compact. The offerings of the Accu-Chek Compass software is for PalmOS only. As an "unstable type 1 diabetic", I have to test 10 to 12 times a day.
Are there any Palm emulators out there for the PPC?
Currently, I'm using SiDiary and have been working on an IrDA module myself. But have been having problems with it. I'd like an "all-in-one" solution.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

P.S. -- Sorry to bring this thread back out of the dead. But did a search and this is the thread I should really ask this in!!!
