Hm. When I was a kid there was this Woolworth's Department Store where we'd sometimes spend our allowance on peanutbutter creme pie... that was goooooood. In a sort of greasy-spoon you-know-it's-bad-for-you way.
I'm not exactly food intolerant myself but pies are so gooey. Maybe it was a bad childhood experience? All those Three Stooges shorts where pies were the weapons of choice.
Are you supposed to eat pie straight out of the oven? When is the optimum moment to eat a pie?
Don't Panic!

for apple pie it is best when it is right out of the oven and add a scoop of ice cream to that
For pumpkin, about an hour after baking. With or without freshly whipped cream, vanilla, a pinch of nutmeg, as you prefer.
Peach. That's another I like. Deep-dish peach with a flakey light crust, woven in strips to let some of the peaches caramelize slightly. No more than 10 minutes out of the oven. Anything other than the firmest, freshly picked fruit is no good - gets syrupy.
Strawberry-rhubarb can be nice, but a truly brilliant example is rare. Pies are an art. My grandmother was an artist.
