WMP Rip Times

Wow, i was just playing around in Windows Media Player 10 and i can say rip times are amazingly fast :approve:

I am ripping cds to 192kbps MP3 Files and i can do about one cd every 1.5 Minutes..not too bad :approve:

I am having to rerip some of my older cds that i had on my pc but they were all in 56kbps but at the time that was pretty good lol

i like 192 now, doesnt take up too much space, but still great quality :approve:

I use ITunes and rip to 160Kb/s with CD Error Correction enabled. It's around 3-4 minutes per CD on average..

I've never seen how fast it would be for me, but a CD without error correction probably takes 2 minutes on a P4 3.00 GHZ, with other applications running most likely.

Nice to see another iTunes fan, even if our ripping takes longer we have a better UI to stare at.

iTunes is awesome. I'm very impressed. The visualizations are not as good as WMP, but overall I prefer it.

ok - just checked.

Ripping to 192Kb/s MP3 is WAY faster. Around 3 minutes for a 52 minute CD while ripping to 160Kb/s AAC was closer to 5 minutes. That's on a 2.8GHz P4.

I guess that's a price to pay for higher quality music though :) (AAC vs MP3 - tests consistently show that AAC is better at equal bit rates).

EDIT: Just re-ran the same test using AAC with error correction on and got closer to 3-4 minutes? Bizarre.
