I'm looking at doing some dev work we own a copy of .net 2003 and am looking at working with some VB.net to write distribute my apps my question is.
All apps developed under VB.net need the compact framework correct ?
What was the first version of windows mobile to include this. I understand CE 4.1 onwards but how does this convert to windows versions i know 2003 SE is 4.21 is 4.1 2002 ?

Windows Mobile 2003 is the first version to have .NETcf installed in ROM. At least according to the "Programming the .NET Compact Framework" book I jsut got last night.
Thier is no direct mapping between the CE version, and the WindowsMobile version. CE is the operating system, while Windows Mobile is an abstraction layer running on top of CE.

You can install the .NET framework yourself, or even build it onto the installer provided your device is running one of these platforms:
