I am in need of a free image slicer that can also make links when it slices. Does anyone know any free ones?

paint shop pro has some kind of slicer, but alas, its not free :-( but you can probably get a trial

have you tried the gimp? Its a free image tool much like Photoshop...its been in development for years and is quite mature now, it can do pretty much anything the high dollar image editors can do but you cant beat the price....free!! And yes there is a windows version.
