Accessing windows share...

on my e755 pocket pc I am using pocketlan to access my windows shares... I can type in \\steveyspc ( for access of my pc machine ) and it will ask for a username and password ... i log in and it connects and mounts it.. when i go to access the share on my mac (which is also windows compatible) I type in \\stevesmac but it says it cannot be found or accessed.... whats up with that? When I am in windows xp I can type in \\stevesmac and it brings up the username and password login, i type in my username and password and it lets me in... why doenst it work on my pocket pc... its the same protocol and everything... anyone have a suggestion? Thanks... btw I have no idea why i posted this in the waterfountain... this is just where i always post ... about everything.. if thats not too much of a problem lol

there probably still are differences between your mac share and your windows pc share...

the share probably works with windows pcs, but pocketlan may not have support for that kind of share

Thanks, what would be a better... possibly free... lan browser for pocket pc?

try using the macs ip in place of the resource name like
\\10.0.0.2\ericsdocs\

that is how i access my shares from my axim

\\192.168.2.104\steve500\ "The network path was not found" I have access to the webserver I am running on my mac, and I can also ping my mac from my pocket pc.. i dont get it.

EDIT: I just tried \\STEVESMAC\STEVE500\ with caps instead of lowercase and now i get the message " The specified server cannot perform the requested operation" hmmm

Is there a way to type the username and password into the share address? Such as something maybe like this.. im not sure exactly but it would be but Ill show this for example .. \\USER:PASSWORD@STEVESMAC\STEVE500\ Im not sure if thats correct or now.. anyone know for sure.. or if there is even a way? thanks.. cause this share on my mac DOES have a passord
