Now that I think of it...anyone else trying to learn or are fluent in Esperanto? For those that dont know about it..its kinda a universal language invented in the late 1800's. It was designed to be easy to learn, supposedly you can be fluent in a few months it was designed as a "second" language so that people of different cultures can communicate since it has no policaical or cultural bias. Im just barely starting myself but it seems like an interesting challenge and who knows it might come in handy some day. The coolest thing about it at least what made me interested was the fact that since its not an actual native language...everyone who learns it is on equal footing there is no accent barrier or local slang so little chance of embarassment or being misunderstood. It is a serious language though there are thousands of books published in esperanto each year as well as dozens of magazines every month.
If anyone else is interested check out... http://www.esperanto-usa.org/
there are even free courses with real instructors for those interested in learning. Sorry if I sound like a Public Service Announcement, just thought it might be interesting to some of you here.
Ja, op de engelstalige sites is nederlands niet vaak gevonden. Ik heb het op vakantie in Nederland geleert en nu lees ik de kranten dagelijk tussen reizen naar Amsterdam.

Waar heb je nederlands geleerd?
I have a bunch of books on Esperanto, which I learned back in (junior?) high school.
I remember some of the basic grammar concepts, but my vocab is nil.

I have a lot of very fond memories of 'The Flat Land'. Eindhoven possibly has the biggest concentration of 'Smart Geezers' worldwide.
Where would we be without compact cassettes, CDs,.... and Jan Timmer :)
Thanks for the link MrKlaatu i thought I had seen everything with Shatner but I missed that one...will definately have to check it out. I actually got interested in Esperanto after seeing Gattaca and hearing the commentary about the public announcements in the movie...they are all in Esperanto.
English, a little Spanish, and even less Italian. I picked up a little Italian before I went on vacation there two years ago. I learned enough to get me by, but did not retain a lot of it.
