PocketPC Mag

I hope I picked the right forum to post this..

What does everyone think of PocketPC Magazine? Is it worth the subscription? I have not had much luck with most magazines, i think the only US published one that I find is worth my money is Maximum PC.

TIA for your comments

I buy it when I go out of town on business. The front page of this site keeps us pretty up to speed on things. I wouldn't subscribe to it though. too much

I am somewhat on the fence about taking out a subscription....I get it via the newstand when it has quite a lot to offer in a given issue. I agree it is a bit expensive....but I am still considering this option...I do like this one.....Was thinking of maybe getting it in a Zinio edition (like Windows XP Official Magazine....an extremely good publication btw)

I'll also pick up the magazine at a newstand when I'm on travel, otherwise, I can get more up-to-date info from aximsite.com and pocketpcthoughts.com.

i like it. i read the stories online occasionally (the ones that are up for free that is...)

if you want a free MS reader issue, click here (note - the issue is from april/may 2004).

i recently subscribed to the print edition - it's 20 bucks for 6 issues...to buy all six at the newstand, it would be 36 dollars (plus tax?). also, by subscribing, i'll supposedly get a free copy of the buyers guide (8 dollar value). i haven't gotten my first issue yet, but i thumbed through the jan/feb issue in the bookstore and it looked great. :approve:

hope that helps!

About a month ago I was at Barnes and Noble and I saw it, it was strangely (spelling?) thin, I was going to subscribe but I think they are charging too much because you can probably get most of that information on this wonderful site. Also I get Motor Trend for like $12 for 12 issues, which is also a very good magazine in my opinion, while Pocket PC magazine is like $20 for 6 issues and a Buyers guide (which is probably stuff you could find on this site again).

Well that was just some opinions from a broke 13 year old with $15 a week allowance....

Not a bad magazine, but not the greatest either. I subscribe to MaximumPC. Only $12 a year for their subscription.

I subscribe but agree that it's too expensive for 6 issues/year. Each time my renewal comes due I moan and groan and then sign up again.

I signed up online for their email which usually advertises a bunch of software I'm never interested in but last week that had a $20 dictionary for $3.

Its a nice magazine but I stopped buying it. Its rather rediculously price even compared to other "niche" market magazines, especially on the newstand. If they made it more worthwhile like maybe include a disk of trials etc...it would be a must have. As it is the editorial content is decent but the news in there is stuff you will find on the net a month earlier.
