Save me from my job and myself!
I have been playing solitaire nonstop for the past four hours because I am utterly, completely, entirely bored in my job. Can anyone send me interesting websites to go through, or games to play? But there are some catches...
Since I share an office with my straight-laced 60 year old boss, I need a site with no explicit or even questionable content or ADS (meaning fark.com is out thanks to those buxom women in ads at the edges), and games that either look like they can be work, or can be clicked off of quickly if someone comes by. Games can also have no sound, or at least an option to turn off the sound.
If it's a game, I also need to be able to pause it quickly (if it's timed or something) since I constantly have to stop and answer asinine questions from my boss. (Today's gem was Q: How do I get to my homepage? A: Click the home button. Q2: Which home button? A2: The one that looks like a house. :bang:
I only have 5 more months at this job before I leave to start law school (yayayayayay!) and I'm looking for any way I can to keep my sanity before I pull a Milton on my office space (kidding...but I will go insane).
Any helpers??? I will be extremely extremely grateful. :)

You are apparently serious, right? Out of curiosity, what is your job? Why can't you offer your expertise in other areas while you are not doing anything in your present station? This one should be in the pet peeves forum. Is the boss your father? You need to get a little more aggressive in your work ethic.

I wish I wasn't serious. I am a recent college grad, and am now an administrative assistant to a professor. My boss isn't my father, however since I have little actual working experience, this was the best I could take, especially since I knew it would be temporary. I am the only administrative person in our department, so I can't take any side jobs if that's what you meant by offering my expertise in other areas.
And by aggressive do you mean taking more initiative?
Thanks, didn't know this belonged in pet peeves!! How do I move it?

It doesn't belong in pet peeves. I was joking about that. Yes, I mean more initiative. You have a long life/career ahead of you. The people with great initiative are the ones that make good in their lives and seldom get bored. It is always noticed. It is never too early to start. Meanwhile, there are a lot of good sites in my earlier post. None of them are questionable in the worksite. Have fun.

You're right, I should take more initiative, but it's hard to get up the motivation, especially think my boss's memory is going. Not trying to make excuses, though...you're definitely right. :)
Thanks for the site!! It's bookmarked!

Your boss probably has more memory than you think. You can still learn a lot from him. Good luck.

Here is a site I use at school, where most websites are blocked by the WEBGUARDIAN. IF you go to the Wastes of Time link on the left there's a few games to play. The mini golf is addicting, and will probly keep you coming back for the next month at least. My best score is a 29 in 18 holes - see if you can beat that!

lookblind: awesome! mini golf is great! I doubt I will be able to match your score, but I'll let you know if lightning strikes, and I do.
danman: Awesome! I think I may be too technically inept for some of the articles in slashdot, but nonetheless, I'll plug away. Who knows...maybe it'll teach me something?? :)
