so i accidentally dialed 112

today during school i take my cell out of my pocket to check for any new text messages and to my surprise it said "emergency call" or something like that and i check recently dialed numbers and it says it dialed 112 and the total call time was almost 3 hours and 30 minutes. i'm completely sure that my phone (nokia 3595) had the keys locked while in my pocket with my x30 (probably dialed because of the pressure on keypad), so i lock my phone and find out that it can still dial 911 and 112 while its locked. anyways, im wandering if i will automatically be forwarded to 911 when dialing 112 (since the emergency number in most of the US is 911), i just wanna make sure i cant get in trouble or something for making a nonemergency call to an emergency number.

112 is almost the international version of 911. My understanding is most of Europe uses 112 as their emergency number. The emergency number in the UK is 999, but 112 also works. I guess they want to make it easier for travellers.

As for getting in trouble, I would have thought you have heard something by now.

Yeah, you won't get in trouble for it. Plus, it's not like you were dialing it on purpose. If the call was engaged for hours like that and they were concerned, they would have simply had a cop (or someone) go to your location and see what was going on. All cell phones now have at least some form of GPS in them that allows emergency operators to locate that cell phone.

BTW, most cell phones have SOME way of disabling "quick dialing" emergency numbers. That'd probably keep it from happening.

yea, doesn't the next phase of E911 require all phones to have gps while the current phase only makes carriers have the ability to triangulate the signal or whatever . i haven't really kept up to date with this.
