E-Mail Scam a $10B Business

I came across this one the Internet today and wanted to share with Aximsite members. By being aware if we could just prevent a few people from getting drawn into this, it would be great.

E-mail scams a $10b Business

They want your money pretending to help different causes that seems ligitimate and very attractive to some people. They base their request on people desire of getting richer faster. The lastest fraud is: You get contacted and convinced to cash a cheque for them. You are allowed to keep portion of the money for your trouble. The cheque is drawn from a fictional bank and account. By the time your bank gets warned of the bad cheque it is too late. You just lost your money.

I think it's STAGGERING that people fall for these schemes. Absolutely mind-blowing. It's people's greed over-powering their common sense.

I agree, I have heard of an older lady losing all her retirement funds in this scam type. I think it is so sad.
