Well, I need a bit of Help.

To cut to the Chase, I'm doing a Science project and need some platinum coated wire for it. Platinum Coated Nickel or whatever would be fine. I've tried Radioshack I've tried Electronics Distributors I've even tried local Jewellers, and the best I got was Rhomium Coated Brass, which the guy would've had to make and I need atleast 6 inches to a foot and his only comes in 4 inch bits and would no doubt be very very expensive.

I can't order off the internet unfortunatly( i Did find a website, 10 bucks American for a foot of Platinum Coated Nickel), that and It would take to long to come in the mail as we got the project today and it's due Friday and I have to work on it though-out the week.

So does anybody know any stores in the Wingham/Lucknow/Waterloo/Listowel or around there area that would stock this. Perhaps A Science or Hobbiest Supply store? This is super important, needed ASAP so everybodys help is appreciated greatly.

Have you tried to contact any jewlers? Id imagine it would work the same way as recoating a ring. I cant imagine how much it would cost but you never know you may get lucky, you provide the stock wire.

Im guessing your project has to do with methyl alcohol vapors which will cause it to get hot and also produce formaldehyde in the process. Unless your getting more advanced and making a fuel cell

Yup I have, But I'd prefer something like 6 inches and the largest pieces of wire they have are 4 inches. They also don't have Platinum, only Rhodium which is a very similar element, but might work.


It doesn't matter now anyway, I'm going to use another catalytic reaction just using Magenese and HCL, which are far more available.
