Question Icons at left of forum boards?

I haven't been able to find an explanation anywhere on this site for what those little envelope icons mean next to each post. There are several versions of the icons, so I assume they each signify something different.

If they're explained somewhere here and I missed it, could someone please point me to the explanation? Thanks! :)

Often times a mouseover will reveal the nature of each icon... sometimes it won't tho (as is the case here).

If you right-click the icons and choose Properties, the name of the icon will be a hint.

Finally, the dots mean you've replied to the thread (not obvious from either method )

Thanks for the info

Yes, I tried holding my cursor over the icons but didn't get any pop-up clues. Didn't occur to me to right-click on them.

Now, what's the difference between a thread and a hot thread?

From what I can tell, a hot thread is one with over 150 views. I could be completely wrong on this, as this is just an observation of mine.
