Threads dying. Allow me to restate:
-Using Windows
-Don't like OpenOffice
-Don't want to buy (or pirate) Microsoft Office
-In a situation where I need to be able to make a presentation on -my deskptop, in .ppt format
-Free
-preferably opensource

Not the right answer you're after, but it's a lead.

It's really about open soruce linux compatible PPT replacements. But do some browsing around and you might find something that will lead you to an answer. There really does not seem to be a lot of activity in that area right now. OpenOffice has undergone changes even in the last month that I've been fiddling with it so for what it's worth, if you didn't like it 6 months ago it might be worth giving it another shot.
