Opensource Powerpoint?

Hi, does anyone know if:
(a)There exists an opensource alternative to Powerpoint other than OpenOffice Impress
(b)Said opensource alternative can save to a .ppt for viewing on a pocket pc or another format that can be viewed on a pocket pc.

Thx

I'd consider at least 5 minutes before bumping.

I haven't heard of one.

When I saw the title I was going to suggest OpenOffice. It works fine for me (but I don't do slide presentations all that often and am not even remotely close to being a power user).

The best one ever is pocket slides. This even has a 30 day trial. Let me know how this works for you. Just type in pocket slides in google and you should see a link to the program withing the first 5 results.

I think the issue with OpenOffice is that it does not support a PPC friendly format.

You CAN use OpenOffice to export to PDF and you could then use the PDF on PPC. Not ideal - but cheaper than paying for a PPT viewer. And really that's all you need right? A free PPC PPT viewer?

But I think he wants something free (hence the request for opensource, a term which is often used (incorrectly) interchangeably with free software).

Yeah, no OpenOffice please, I tried OpenOffice and did not like (thusly my current use of Abiword). Also, Pocket Slides is a viewer on the side of the pda. Unless they release something to allow me to create and edit presentations on my desktop, it's of no use. Oh, and allow me to amend the title: Opensource (free) Powerpoint. I admit I was wrong there (case, Red Hat is linux, and thusly opensource, and yet not free. Linspire is linux, and thusly opensource, and yet not free (although I do not quite know how they get off charging for that, since there is little to no actual work other than the UI that they own there)).

Have you tried any of the other open office variants? I guess you're using Linux but on the Mac there are several different interfaces and "versions" of the Open Office original code.

Actually, I am using Windows. I want to start using linux, but can't decide on a good build to start on (I want one that isn't evil, but I do want to jump headfirst into it so I can do some learning). I just don't want to pay for or pirate microsoft office.

ah ok. Sorry. Which I could be more help.

I'll move this to the Water Fountain since there are some linux geeks who will be happy to help with Open Office alternatives and with a "starting linux" flavour.
