OT: Microsoft word 2003 - Safe mode

ok i know this is a bit off topic but ill ask anyways

im running a dell computer, (desktop) with Windows XP

when i start Microsoft Word and the load page saying "Microsoft Word 2003" but after that i get a message saying:

"Word failed to start correctly last time. starting word in save mode will help you correct or isolate a startup problem in order to successfully start a program. some functionality may be disabled in the mode.
would you like to start Word and safe mode? Yes/No"

if I say no the main loading screen with "Microsoft Word 2003" pops up than a new window comes up asking me if I want to send an error report or not.

whether I choose to send or not to send the error report the "safe mode window" pops up again.

In order to start Microsoft Word I must choose to run in safe mode.

How do I stop my Microsoft Word 2003 from wanting to enter safe mode???

i have to go through this every time i poen M.W. and this make some slow load time

HELP!!!

Search your C drive for normal.dot

When Windows Search finds it, highlight the file & press the delete key.

I have this EXACT same problem. I got this computer in February 07 and I think this is the first time I've tried to use Word. I have Vista Premium OS and Word 2003.

I tried doing as you all suggested (deleting normal.dot) however, when I searched my C drive, I couldn't find the bugger anywhere. Now I like to think I have a bit of a clue with computers and searching but I will admit that Vista is a little clunky so maybe I'm not searching in the best way for this file.

Any other suggestions?

Vista has a problem with office 2003, is what i heard. Your better off with that new confusing all the menus screwed up, they were the same from 95-03, but now theyre different.

Office 2007.

That is why i will continue to use xp and 2003, until vista and office 07 are so normal and my versions are obsolete. Why would i want to go from being a master of office to being a newbie at it.
