RSS and HTTP

An RSS URL normally takes the form of a feed://www.website.com right?

Why would an application expect a HTTP rss feed? Like http://www.website.com/news.rss

Most RSS feeds that I've used have been HTTP://

For example, check out the links of all the RSS feeds at CNN.com:
http://www.cnn.com/services/rss/

Oh, and just as a kicker... our own Aximsite RSS Feed. :p
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/external.php

And it doesn't even use a .rss extension. I mean, an RSS feed is just a simple XML file, so the transfer protocol and/or extension shouldn't really matter.

But when you actually click it, the URL changes.

Or is that just my RSS Aware browser? Maybe it is?

I think that might just be the browser you're using.

I've never seen FEED:// before, but then again I'm not much of an RSS user either.
