The first four words of the question are the important issue here so, personally, I hope no one gives you an answer. Having said that, here is the way I would go about answering it.

1) Make up a list of the unintended social consequences.
Presumably you've heard some of these in class so it shouldn't be too hard.

2) What solutions have been used so far - do you agree or disagree with them?

Finally,

3) I would go back to the declaration of independence and the constitution, especially the first amendment, since ultimate solutions should be found there - with the realization that there could be some contradictions depending on a specific individual's point of view.

good ideas, our class has mostly focused on the last 200 years or so, mostly things like transportation (steam, train, car) and communication (telegraph, telephone, wireless) and also genetic stuff (cloning).

Perhaps the question should be: Is it the government's place to react to the social consequences of technology? Perhaps, the government should mind its own business.

having just studied for and written a promotional exam i would strongly suggest that you do the work yourself.

then i read your post and realized that you were writing the exam. did i mention that some of the questions on my exam were really f**k*d-up. now i suspect that the exam writers did the same thing that you are now doing- soliciting questions on the net.

sorry am venting as i have no idea as to whether i passed or failed. good luck in your quest for a question.
