O ya, compiling on that would be such fun... NOT!

OTOH, it could use apt and synaptic or something, but you would prolly still have to compile some things!

It uses the ARM port of GNU Linux Debian 2.6 and runs Texas Instruments 1710 OMAP ARM processor, with a 64MB RS-MMC flash card included.

I was going to get an Axim, but (take no offense) the Nokia 770 suits my needs almost perfectly for college! With a campus wide WiFi network I'll be able to take full advantage of the Nokia 770's massive broadband abilities. Unfortunately, I also have to do schoolwork on it... I hope people come out with a DocumentsToGo type of office docs handler for it.

I read in other articles that it doesn't have Bluetooth Keyboard support built into the HID. That's disgusting. Hopefully an update will correct that.

It can still be used with a Bluetooth phone being used as a modem, so that's a big plus. I envy you Cingular / T-Mobile customers, Sprint doesn't carry a single darn Bluetooth phone that isn't gutter-worthy. Imagine hooking this puppy up to a Razr V3.

I hope it supports PEAP/LEAP. It better, being toted as a wireless internet terminal.

So I went and got one of the Nokia 770 Internet Tablets. I had one on order at NokiaUSA.com, but they were backordered and I found one at a CompUSA store that was about 50 miles away so we drove there yesterday to get one.

It is incredibly perfect for what I was looking for. I sold my old X30H on eBay to get this thing, and I am very happy with it. The screen resolution is unbelievable- I can see whole web pages like never before. Considering the only things I really used my old Ax for were internet and watching the occasional movie, this is all I need. It is not much larger than my Axim was, and that surprised me, because it seemed bigger in the pictures I saw. The battery life is quite good; I got nearly four hours last night on full brightness.

I hope no one will mind if I still stop by Aximsite now that I am no longer even a Pocket PC owner.
