Question Streaming video on a mac

Hi all

PC users seem to get great apps like Orb with which they can access video on their Axims anywhere! Is there anything equivalent for macs?

Up till now I've been using a windows file share on my mac which I connect to with GSFinder to stream video to my x50v over our home network, but it isn't very efficient nor can I access it remotely.

Have you heard of an app called VLC? It should support streaming of video. I gave it a shot and thought it was horrendous. A truly awful application in my experience. But maybe you'll have more luck with it than I did :)

Turn on your websharing and host the files yourself.
Beta player works fine for most files. I don't like this solution but apparently is the only way i could pull it off with my setup. You will be able to access them from anywhere.

Yes, I've tried it this way but I have a feeling that streaming over a web server is not as optimized for speed as a dedicated streaming media server? Of course, I have no idea what I'm talking about... for all I know those other streaming server programs just use http anyway!

Rumor is Apple will start selling music or other video through iTune and it should be possible to stream video to other wireless devices like the audio streaming to airport express that iTune currently supports.
